RetroFAST Florida

Approved by the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) in May 2012 under the “alternative drainfield repair” section of the Florida Administrative Code 64E-6 (F.A.C. 64E-6), this EPA tested and verified technology converts your existing septic tank into an advanced wastewater treatment system.

You can now upgrade your existing septic system BEFORE it begins to show signs of failure. The RetroFAST is considered an “upgrade” because only 10% to 40% of the wastewater treatment occurs in the septic tank. This leaves the majority of the treatment to take place in the soil. A biomat, or clogging layer, forms as a result. The RetroFAST performs 95% to 99% of the treatment. Only clear treated water leaves the tank to be distributed in the soils of the drainfield.

This upgrade is vitally important to the longevity of your drainfield. The RetroFAST reverses the clogging layer in your drainfield so that it will not fail as a result of the biomat. The end result is a system that disposes highly treated wastewater into the drainfield eliminating the drainfield as a treatment component of the system.

If a drainfield is already in failure, the RetroFAST will remediate or rejuvenate the field. That is, the clogging layer is removed and your drainfield begins to function again. The advantage of the RetroFAST is that it can be installed into your existing septic tank with minimal site disturbance. There is no need for heavy equipment or for your yard and landscaping to be dug up. This means that the RetroFAST can be installed for less than what it would cost to replace the entire drainfield.

Installing the RetroFAST as a system upgrade for new construction ensures that the system will be there virtually the life of the home. It is so efficient in its treatment of the wastewater that the clogging layer does not form. The soil component of the system never fails which means you will not have to replace the drainfield! A septic system that will not fail increases the resale value of the home.
